Celestial Drama for July and August 2012- Saturn, Mars, Lunar Nodes and Mercury

Planetary transits in July and August 2012

The celestial sky is full of drama in July 2012 and the early part of August 2012.  Jupiter, Venus and Ketu(South Node of the Moon) are occupying Taurus. Sun has moved from Gemini to Cancer and is shining bright. Mercury has become retrograde in Cancer and Mercury will be combust within five degrees of the Sun between July 25-31, as well as being retrograde. This puts the Sun in a stronger position, especially for enjoyment and attention to the self. Mars marches after a retrograde last month into Virgo and Saturn is completing its last degrees of Virgo before it enters its state of exaltation- Libra in the beginning of August 2012. Rahu(North Node of the Moon) is in Scorpio.

Let us study effects of some notable transits;

Rahu and Ketu (Dragons Head and Dragons Tail):

Rahu in Taurus and Ketu in Scorpio own these houses respectively, but as the order is upside down, they are hence debilitated. Rahu denotes secrecy and worldly desire and Ketu denotes spiritual advancement and inward looking. With Jupiter in the same house along with Ketu- Taurus, the ill-effects are somewhat subdued.

Venus:

Venus adds color as Taurus is its house of exaltation. Strong Yogas can be formed when Guru and Shukra are together. Venus resumes direct motion on June 27 at 13° Taurus, her own earth sign and continues till Jul 31st 2012. This puts Venus in a better position to begin her blossoming as morning star. During July, we should begin to feel forward motion also in the way we are relating and creating in our lives.

Mercury (R) and (C):

Mercury entered Cancer and then went retro fiercely during mid July 2012. Time for confusion and haphazardness. All timed and planned things can also go berserk.  Following the 1st week of August when Mercury becomes direct and enters Gemini(own sign), things will particularly start looking up and get sorted. But around the end of July 29th to 31st, it is dangerously close to the Sun, making it combust. Mercury rule communication and speech, our intellect and budhi, and a combust or astha Budha is certainly not good. Waiting for Mercury to enter Gemini, plans can be put into execution immediately.

Mars:

Mars is pure energy, this red planet is the execution part of the whole plan. After it was retro a while ago, Mars is moving at breakneck speed in Virgo- a maiden sign. What does this signify?  In Virgo, we analyze. Virgo is a mutable sign that invites change, movement and dispersion of power. While Mercury, ruler of Virgo, has no interest in acquiring control or power(incidentally Mercury is retrograde in Cancer right now), he does have an interest in finding the best use for what power reveals itself. Mars, in contrast, lives to gain and wield power. Mars moves through Virgo during July and through half of August.

Saturn:

Finally the long haul is over. Saturn is just about  finishing its last  degrees of Virgo and will soon hop, skip and jump in Libra on the 04th August 2012. Leo(Simha Rashi), Gemini(Mithuna Rashi) and Aquarius(Kumbha Rashi) can heave a big sigh of relief. Cancer(Karka Rashi), Scorpio(Vrischika Rashi), Virgo(Kanya Rashi), Libra(Thula Rashi) and Pisces(Meena Rashi) are still under pressure, but as Libra is the house of exaltation, some benevolence is expected, though not necessarily. This big Karmic planet(Saturn) can squeeze you off your juices if he wishes.

The Great Mars-Saturn Conjunction (Shani Mangal Yuti in 2012)

Mars – Saturn conjunction denotes a conjunction of hot and cold. Mars gives the ‘energy’ to fulfill needs and Saturn is the ‘control’, which is necessary for eventual efficiency in our expression and growth. During the Mars – Saturn conjunction, the essential energies fight with necessary controls. This conjunction often results in a stalemate or indecision. Occasionally this can also make the person prone to accidents. After all both are considered malefics!
Mars, the gogetter is going to cross paths with Saturn in Libra around the 14th August 2012 and few days thereon. I suggest caution to everyone especially while driving, traveling etc. Go slow, do not take any major decision, keep your tempers down, learn to forgive and lets not forget to pay our Karmic debts every once a while.
On the positive side, this conjunction is a time when you can use your energies constructively. On the negative side, this conjunction often produces a tendency of anger or hard feelings that you must control.

Mars is on the gas pedal and Saturn is on the brakes. Drive carefully, don’t burn the rubber!
